1073. ACIDS—which the Student should he provided with.—
Nitric Acid, 2 oz. price per oz. 2d.—Muriatic Acid, 4 oz. per oz. 1d.
—Sulphuric Acid, a pound, 6d.—Tartaric Acid, 1 oz. per oz. 3d.—
Note.——The Nitric, Muriatic, and Sulphuric Acid bottles must be
closed with glass stopples.
1074. ALKALIES—which the Student should be provided with.
——Caustic Potass, 1 oz. price 6d. It must be kept in a glass-stoppered
phial secure from air. Liquid Ammonia, 2 oz. per ounce, 2d.

 1075. SALTS—dilhlc‘h the Student should be provided with.—
Cream of Tartar, (in crystals) 2 oz. 1.5d—Sulphate of Soda, 4 oz.
1d.—-Sulphate of Iron, 2 oz. 1d.—-—Sulphate of Copper, 1 oz. 1d.—
Alum, 2 oz. 1d.—-Prussiate of Potass, 1 oz. 6d. (This is a very inter-
esting and useful article for the young chemist.) Nitrate of Potass,
(saltpetre) 2 oz. 1d.—Sal Ammoniac, 1 oz. 1d.—Acetate of Lead,
(Sugar of Lead) 1 oz. lid—Carbonate of Ammonia, 2 oz. 3d.—

Carbonate of Magnesia, 1 0z. 1d.—Super-Carbonate of Soda, (Carbon-
ate) 4 0z. 6d.
1076. SUNDRIE ARTICLES—which the Student should be
provided with—Litmus, 0.5 oz. 2d.—Sulphuric Ether, 1 oz. 6d.—Gall
Nuts, 0.5 oz. 2d.—The Black Oxide of Manganeze, 0.5 oz. 2d.—Sulphur,
Chalk, Charcoal, Phosphorus, 0.5Oz. 2d. The phosphorus must be kept
in a well stopped bottle covered with water. (Care must be taken
never to hdndle it without its being immersed, or at least wet with
water.) Oil of Turpentine and Olive Oil, of each, 1 oz.—A few iron
filings, dry, clean, and free from rust.—Zinc, which must be granulated,
